How to measure your dog's paws

You wouldn’t want to stick your size 10 foot in a size 8 shoe because it’d be incredibly uncomfortable. The same goes for your pet, which is why this is here to help you measure your pet’s foot to ensure a comfortable fitting boot.

Clean your pet’s foot thoroughly before measuring him. Any debris or foreign objects can cause your pet pain and will give an inaccurate measurement.

To measure the width of your dog's paw, place the foot on a piece of paper and press down on the top of the foot, mimicking how the foot spreads when walking.

Mark the left and the right side of the foot on the paper and measure the distance between the marks.

Compare this to the boot sizes below.

The width of the foot should be smaller than the boot size. For example, if the paw width is 75mm then you need size 7 that are 80mm wide & if the paw was 65mm then you would need size 5 that are 70mm wide. If you are unsure then please feel free to ask us at info@pawideas.com

The boot should fit securely without squeezing your pet’s toes.

Allow your pet to wear the boots around to get used to them. Many dogs dislike the boots at first and will try to pull them off. Give him a treat for leaving them on and eventually he will ignore the boots. Please see our fitting guide for the best advice in helping with putting them on the the first time.
